Week of May 11
Below you will find 5 stories to choose the 2 that you will read. Each story is a masterpiece in its own right, however I have also tried to provide you with a little variety in genre. There are clever and funny stories, Gothic lit and more serious themes to settle in with-choose whatever you think will be interesting to you. I have read them all and find each to be captivating for different reasons and in that I became a different reader with each. You might want to investigate a little bit before you read so you don't end up missing a good text.
Using the "Think Aloud Phrases" doc, record your self answering at least 1 questions from each of the 8 sections. This is an exercise in both reflecting as a reader but also in practicing the skills that make you a better reader. As we get older, we often forget to use the tools that make us powerful readers-this is good practice.
You will read and answer at the same time-recording your thinking as you go.
You will:
1) Choose two stories
2) Record your Think Aloud as you read your text.
3) Connect with me this week to discuss...yes, you heard me-you will actually be asked to put your camera on and chat, or use Remind 101 to text me. I don't need any profound comments-just wonderful you talking about what you read and what you thought. You will sign up in the schedule sent out to you and inform me of the way in which you wish to connect.
30-2 students:
I suggest you choose:
"Story of an Hour"
"Two Fisherman"
